Low Key Crush are Taycian and Tim, two friends from Melbourne, Australia. Their music is best played while driving or seen live with the last person you kissed. They play guitar based dream pop that flirts with folk, jangle, shoe gaze and a smattering of surf. Tim’s lyrics are often about love, romantic or otherwise, stories or unadulterated feelings. Low Key Crush love harmonies as much as melodies and Tim’s relaxed, calming vocals often float above the surface of murkier emotional waters.

Long time friends Ella and Tim met Taycian through a friend of a friend early 2018 and what started as an audition for a drummer ended in the full formation of the band. They recorded their debut single ‘Swimming Laps’ in Tim’s parents’ garage with little studio knowledge and rented mics from a DJ warehouse, laying down the parts for their follow up, ‘Shelter’ that same weekend. ‘Swimming Laps’ was intended as a warm up song for further releases and to get an idea of the process for self-releasing however they managed to get the ear of national youth radio broadcaster Triple J, put on rotation at a range of community radio stations in Australia, including Sydney’s FBi and made the Triple J Unearthed Best New Music playlist. Their follow up was then picked up by Spotify’s Fresh Finds: Indie playlist and also included in blog tastemaker Hype Machine’s best new music playlist. A few months later Ella departed and Tim and Taycian knuckled down in the studio for more releases. As the pandemic hit they released ‘When You Were Leaving’, which Indie for Bunnies described as ‘pop magic with a crystalline melody and strong empathetic warmth’ and then ‘Been Waiting’ described by Pop Lib NZ as ‘melodic, wistful, and gently sublime guitar pop goodness’. WYWL helped them sign with sync agency “Sons To Your Ears” in 2021 as many have noted the movie soundtrack appeal of LKC music.

Having released lead single ‘Night Time’ in March of this year, Low Key Crush are now putting out the rest of their debut EP, ‘Bats Over The Eastern Freeway’.
